Pen Care & Maintenance Guide (Damascus Steel & Damascus + Brass Pens)

Damascus Pen Care & Maintenance

Foladify pens are made to be used daily. Keep the finish clean, the mechanism smooth, and the metal protected with a few simple habits.

Daily care (30 seconds)

• Wipe the barrel and hardware with a soft, dry cloth after use.

• Avoid long exposure to moisture, sweat, or harsh chemicals (cleaners, perfumes, sanitizers).

• If the pen gets wet, dry it fully before putting it back in a pocket, bag, or box.

Humidity and corrosion protection

• In humid climates, apply a very light coat of mineral oil or a light gun oil to the Damascus barrel occasionally, then wipe off any excess.

• Do not store the pen damp inside a closed box or pouch.

Brass parts (if your pen has brass)

• Brass naturally darkens over time (patina). That’s normal and expected.

• If you prefer a brighter look, polish gently with a brass-safe cloth, then wipe clean.

Bolt-action and moving parts

• Keep the mechanism free of pocket lint and grit.

• If action feels dry, use a tiny drop of light oil on the moving area, cycle it a few times, then wipe excess.

Refills

• Your pen is refillable. Replace the cartridge when the ink fades or skips.

• Tip: keep one spare refill in your desk or bag if you use the pen for work.

What to avoid

• Avoid drops onto hard floors (it can dent hardware or affect mechanism feel).

• Avoid abrasive pads or harsh polishing compounds on the Damascus finish.
