This is real, hand-forged Damascus steel, made from layered carbon and stainless steels that are forge-welded together. The pattern is in the metal itself, not printed or etched on top.

Damascus steel is durable, but like any high-carbon steel, it appreciates a little care. Wipe the pen dry if it gets wet, avoid harsh chemicals, and occasionally rub a light coat of mineral oil or gun oil over the barrel if you live in a very humid or coastal climate.

The brass bands are both structural and decorative, adding a classic contrast against the darker Damascus steel. Like all real brass, it may develop a light patina over time. You can leave that patina for a vintage look or polish it occasionally with a brass-safe cloth.

The pen ships with a standard luxury ballpoint refill in blue ink and is designed to work with most equivalent ballpoint refills in blue or black. When you run out, simply unscrew the front section and swap the refill.
